CMA CGM orders three 20,600-TEUers from Hanjin Heavy
FRANCE's leading shipping line CMA CGM has placed an order with Hanjin Heavy Industries for three 20,600-TEU ships to be built at its Subic Bay yard.
The carrier's largest box ship at present is the 17,722-TEU CMA CGM Kerguelen, delivered at the end of March and built by South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries.
Delivery of the ultra-large containerships will begin in the second half of 2017, according to a statement from the shipbuilder. The Subic yard is capable of building two 20,000-TEU ships simultaneously, reported Mumbai's Daily Shipping Times.
The vessels will measure 400 metres in length, 59 metres in width and 33 metres in depth, and they will be deployed on the carrier's main Asia-North Europe route.
