CMA CGM levies US$10 per box after Congo inspection fee imposed
FRENCH shipping giant will levy a US$10 per container charge from April 1 after Congo (Brazzaville) announced that it would inspect every box coming and going at Pointe Noire.
"In compliance with this governmental regulation, CMA CGM Group will implement a new surcharge, 'Container Safety Charge' also called 'PHI' (Government Agency Inspection Service)," said the company announcement.
The government of the Republic of Congo has decided by Decree No 12369 dated May 15, 2015 to implement an inspection of all import and export containers in Pointe Noire, said CMA CGM.
