FRENCH shipping line CMA CGM is introducing a series of Emergency Space Surcharges (ESS) for exports originating in Russia and the Baltic region, effective from March 15 as the date of loading. Dry and reefer cargo from Baltic ports destined for the Red Sea, Indian Subcontinent, Middle East Gulf, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, China, Hong Kong and Macau will be subject to an ESS of US$100 per TEU, reported St Petersburg PortNews.
From St Petersburg, Bronka, Ust'-Luga and Kaliningrad the ESS will be $50 per TEU for dry and reefer cargo heading to ports in North Europe, the Baltic, Scandinavia and Poland.
From St Petersburg, Bronka, Ust'-Luga and Kaliningrad to east and west Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa the ESS is $55 per TEU.
Dry and reefer cargo originating in ports in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia that is destined for ports in the east and west Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa will be charged an ESS of EUR50 ($54) per TEU.
