FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM will levy a low sulphur surcharge for ro-ro Med lines from December 1 in response for the UN's International Maritime Organisation's 2020 Low Sulphur Regulation that aims to reduce ship sulphur emissions 85 per cent from January 1.
'In that context, we inform our customers that our commercial policy regarding bunker-related surcharges on our SSL RoRo Med Lines has been reviewed, and that we will apply the following LSS20 from December 1.
Specifically on RoRo Tunisia, trailers will be charged EUR112 (US$123) per unit, various rolling cargo at EUR8 per linear metre, cars at EUR57 per unit conventional at EUR6 per ton or metre.
On RoRo Algeria and RoRo Morocco the rate will be trailers EUR154 per unit. Various rolling cargo will be charged EUR11 per linear metre. Cars at: EUR31 per unit and conventional EUR9 per ton or per cubic metre.
