CLARKSONS Platou Shipping Services USA and Safe Harbour Tanker Chartering of Connecticut have inked a Heads of Agreement concerning the acquisition of Safe Habour, including all its business interests and personnel in the broking house.

Safe Harbour Tanker Chartering has been operating since 1989. The shipbroker is chiefly focused on the edible oils sector, specialising in vegetable oil exports from the US and South America to the wider Americas and European markets.

The company also maintains a presence within the biodiesel sector, as well as iso-tank and flexi bag chartering. It is led by Jim Weinberg and his team, all of whom, upon completion of the deal, will become part of the Clarksons Platou Specialised Products business, adding an 11th office to the network, London's Tanker Operator reported.

The acquisition of Safe Harbour is a key step in the development and growth for Clarksons Platou Specialised Products and represents an important milestone on the group's future path, it said.
