CHINA's cargo traffic rose by 9.1 per cent to 1.14 billion tonnes in January compared with the same month last year, according to data compiled by the Ministry of Transport (MoT).
Foreign trade cargo throughput amounted to 378 million tonnes, up 5.9 per cent year on year, while domestic trade grew 10.8 per cent, said Xinhua.
Container throughput was up 7.8 per cent to 22.16 million TEU, the report said, on the back of a steadily increase in waterway freight volumes, which rose by 9.4 per cent year on year in January.
