BANGLADESH's main Port of chattogram posted a 13 per cent year-on-year increase in container throughput in 2021 to 3,214,448 TEU, reported Dhaka's Daily Star.
The figure includes boxes handle by the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal in Keraniganj and Kamalapur Inland Container Depot in Dhaka, said Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Omar Faruk.
The number of containers handled by the port in a year crossed three million TEU for the first time in 2019 when 3,088,187 TEU were handled, posting a 6.34 per cent year-on-year rise.
In 2020, the country's foreign trade marked a sharp eight per cent fall in annual container handling, when the port handled 2,839,977 TEU.
