SINGAPORE Changi Airport handled 137,000 tonnes of cargo in February, a decrease of 8.3 per cent year-on-year, according to the monthly traffic statistics.
All the cargo flows exports, imports and transshipments weakened due to the slowdown in world trade, said the airport.
The passenger division saw positive growth, as it handled four per cent more passengers compared to the same period a year before. The airport handled 5.13 million passenger movements in the reporting month.
A statement from the airport tells us that during the month of February, passenger traffic growth was observed across all regions, with Europe and North America recording double-digit growth. With the Chinese New Year holidays falling in the month of February, traffic between Singapore and China grew six per cent.
