GLOBAL provider of technology-enabled solutions for freight forwarders, shippers, and carriers, Catapult, has integrated Maersk Spot to its platform, providing customers with a richer rate dataset for commercial and operational decision making.
Catapult, a subsidiary of Accelya Group, provides rate management services, and a private platform for freight forwarders and beneficial cargo owners, to view, compare and quote multi-modal buying and selling rates.
'Catapult offer clients various integrated and digital methods to publish Maersk private contracted rates to their QMS 5.0 platform and are excited to now add live Maersk Spot rates to the offering,' the company said in a statement.
'The integration of a deep-link to Maersk's booking portal means users can instantly book the Maersk Spot rates. These rates are also available via Catapult's API for integration to the freight forwarder or BCO's own transport management system,' the statement said.
AP Moller-Maersk's head of Ocean Product Excellence, Liezal du Toit, said: 'We are very happy to expand our Maersk and Safmarine Spot offering to Catapult and by doing so granting customers accessibility to this innovative product.
'This is a further step towards offering an enhanced customer experience by meeting the customer's demands through digital solutions, making business with us fast, easy and convenient. Catapult is a significant player in their segment and has shown strong support and expertise throughout the development.'
Virgil Ferreira, CEO, Catapult said: 'A number of our global freight forwarder clients told us that they had been trying out this product and found the rates offered to be very competitive at times, and of course they enjoy the added benefit of the space guarantee. Even those who have not yet used the product are expressing interest in exploring this new option and comparing it to their contract rates.
'We are continuing to work with Maersk on other projects, they are an innovative company to work with, and that aligns perfectly to Catapult's tech enabled approach.'
