CARGO-PARTNER has officially opened its expanded logistics facility close to Slovenia's Ljubljana Airport and announced a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project, reports London's Air cargo News.
The company opened its iLogistics Center two years ago but brought forward the planned expansion of the facility this year in response to rising demand.
The project brought the facility's total area to 39,000 sq m, offering an additional 14,100 sq m of storage space on three floors
A wide and narrow-aisle racking system offers an additional 9,000 pallet slots, bringing its total to 48,000 slots.
In addition, the new facility will also have a drone port that can be used for parcel deliveries.
The logistics center now has 59 loading docks for all vehicle types.
Meanwhile, in early December, Cargo-Partner and Lufthansa handled their first SAF shipment directly from Vienna Airport.
The shipment took off from Vienna Airport and landed at Dallas Fort Worth Airport in Texas the following day.
'We are pleased to set this first important milestone for sustainable transport technology together with our long-standing partner Lufthansa,' said Cargo-Partner corporate director Jo Feiks.
'For both companies, it was the first shipment to depart from Vienna under SAF criteria. With this starting signal, we want to jointly pave the way for CO2-neutral logistics.'
