GLOBAL transport and logistics leader CMA CGM has announced a US$20 billion investment to strengthen the US maritime economy and modernise the nation's supply chain over the next four years, reports Montreal's Simple Flying.
With a 35-year presence in the US, the company now operates in 40 states and employs 15,000 Americans.
CMA CGM Air cargo will establish a new freight hub in Chicago as part of this expansion.
To enhance trade connectivity and ensure the efficient transport of critical goods, the company will introduce five new Boeing 777F freighters, operated by American pilots.
CMA CGM launched its dedicated air freight division in February 2021, beginning commercial operations in March with routes between Liege and Chicago, later expanding to New York, Atlanta and Dubai.
