AIR cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at Kansas City International Airport were down 5.0 per cent in October with a total of 19.6 million pounds handled.
On a year-to-date basis, the airport handled 194.7 million pounds of air cargo, down 8.7 per cent. Air freight handled at the airport during the same month amounted to 19.6 million pounds, down 4.7 per cent year-over-year. Year to date, air freight is down 9.8 per cent with a total of 90.6 million pounds handled.
Air mail for October was down 79.3 per cent from October 2022 with 17,837 pounds handled. Air mail year to date for 2023 is up 102.8 per cent from 2022 with 4.1 million pounds handled.
October was the third busiest month for passenger throughput since the airport opened in November 1972.
The Kansas City Aviation Department reported that 1,061,041 passengers arrived and departed through Kansas City International Airport's gates in October, a 15.6 per cent increase from the same month in 2022.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for October 2023 was 156. Service was offered to 45 nonstop markets. The all-cargo carriers reported 9 daily departures for October.
