Busan port's September box throughput is down on August
SOUTH Korea's Busan port handled 1.51 million TEU in September, an increase of 6.7 per cent compared to the same month last year, but the result was lower than this August's throughput of 1.53 million TEU.
A breakdown of the results for September show that the port handled 759,760 TEU of transshipment cargo, up 9.2 per cent year on year, and accounting for over half of the total throughput.
Import and export cargo rose 4.4 per cent to 749,875 million TEU.
In the first nine months of this year, total throughput amounted to 13.7 million TEU, according to data from the Busan Port Authority (BPA), reported Seatrade Global.
The BPA is aiming to move 18.2 million TEU this year, up from 2013's total throughput of 17.69 million TEU.
