BRITISH Transport Secretary Grant Shapps urged Britons to stop panic-buying gasoline as the Petrol Retailer Association warned that pumps running dry are still days away from happening, reports Bloomberg.
The government and fuel industry declared there are early signs supplies are increasing at gas stations, and demand is reducing after people filled their tanks.
'We're starting to see the first signs of stabilisation, which won't yet be reflected in the queues, but is in the percentage of fuel now available,' said Mr Shapps.
Chaos at petrol stations dominated the newspapers for days and is the latest example of supply chain disruption and shortages during the pandemic.
That issue is hurting Boris Johnson, who led the campaign to split the UK from the EU, which cut the supply of labour from the EU's seamless market.
The government has blamed the crisis on the surge in demand caused by an economic rebound from the Covid crisis.
