BOLLORE Logistics, in collaboration with its longstanding partner Sarcona, has initiated a new service featuring an electric truck for last-mile delivery between New Jersey and New York, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
Manufactured in the United States, the electric truck boasts a range of 200 miles and will be operational for 359 days annually, shuttling between bollore Logistics' distribution centre in Ridgefield and the customer's retail network in the heart of Manhattan.
Covering 60 kilometres daily, the service is the result from a partnership between the two companies.
For Bollore, this venture aligns with its commitment to construct environmentally friendly transport offerings collaboratively with its partners.
Simultaneously, Sarcona's introduction of this electric truck marks a significant milestone as it becomes its first 100 per cent electric vehicle.
Implementing this new service underscores Bollore Logistics' dedication to contributing to decarbonising road transport and enhancing air quality in the city.
The anticipated impact includes avoiding 10 to 15 tonnes of CO2e annually, translating to a reduction of at least 70 per cent in CO2e emissions and completely eliminating air pollutant emissions.
'The electric truck appears to be the best option for last-mile delivery, and we are delighted with this partnership with Sarcona, which opens up new perspectives in sustainable logistics without compromising on quality of service,' said Ridgefield Distribution Centre director Michael Workman.
'We look forward to implementing this new transportation solution and soon be able to measure all the benefit,' he said.
