KEY industry players will discuss IMO 2020 at the annual Middle East Bunkering Convention on January 21-24 in Dubai.

Delegates include shipowners and operators, bunker suppliers and traders, surveyors, agents and maritime lawyers from the Middle East and worldwide.

The focus will be IMO 2020, that is the 0.50 per cent sulphur cap on ship emissions and the huge impact it will have on the marine fuel supply chain from January 1, 2020.

The convention consists of a two-day bunker trading and operations course, and a technical site visit to the Port of Jebel Ali.

Sessions include Countdown to IMO 2020, Realities and Challenges of 2020 Compliance Options, Preparing for IMO 2020 and Beyond - a Regional Perspective, New Bunker Fuels: Quality and Operational Issues, Commercial Realities and the Marine Fuel Supply Chain as well as Understanding the Legal Ramifications of IMO 2020 and Future Regulation.

'This fourth annual Middle East Bunkering Convention will raise the level of debate in the region and once again ensure that delegates leave better informed and better equipped to face the new sulphur rules,' said Llewellyn Bankes-Hughes, managing director of the UK's Petrospot Ltd, the conference organiser.
