On Feb 4, 2018, at 7 p.m. the 'Rising Sun Ihi' was hit by the tanker 'Chrysopigi', carrying 30000 tonnes of fuel products, while it was entering the Haifa port and lost its steering. The bargewas engaged in construction of extension of the port's breakwater. The starboard quarter kedge anchor (sinker) of the 'Rising Sun Ihi' was lost and the barge drifted onto breakwater. She suffered damage to the starboard side shell platting, inward dents into watertight compartments at port side, and port shuttle, The owners used their own tugs for assistance. The 'Rising Sun Ihi' was refloated on Feb 10, no water ingress reported. It was planned to tow it to dry-dock in Turkey.
