BRAZILIAN airline Azul Linhas Aereas has appointed Globe Air Cargo (GAC) Argentina, an ECS Group subsidiary, as its general sales and services agent (GSSA) in Argentina.
GAC Argentina plans to expand the cargo activities of Brazil's third-largest carrier in Argentina, including opening up destinations that are currently passenger-only.
Azul has inked a two-year GSSA contract with GAC Argentina, which is marketing the airline's cargo capacity on flights departing from Buenos Aires, and in the future will do so from Cordoba and Rosario.
From Buenos Aires, GAC Argentina now markets several Brazilian destinations, including Belo Horizonte, which is served by two flights a day, and Campinas, with one flight a day, as well as destinations of Fort Lauderdale and Orlando in the US, as well as Lisbon and soon Porto in Europe, London's Air Cargo News reported.
Azul operates a fleet of A320 and EM190 and EM195 passenger aircraft on flights from Argentina, in addition to its Airbus A330, Boeing 737 and, soon to enter the fleet, B767 aircraft on flights from Brazil.
GAC Argentina managing director Alejandro Doldi said: 'We have full confidence in this airline and in the opportunities for rapid development in the Argentinian market. Increased trade between Argentina and Brazil will also contribute to Azul's growth in this market.'
