THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has padlocked the office of Philippines aviation consultancy firm in Mabalacat City north of Manila, after it was found to be engaged in illegal recruitment activities, reports Cebu's Sun-Star daily.
In a statement, the DMW said it shut down AeroStrategies Inc after it was found illegally recruiting aircraft mechanics for employment in the United States.
'We will not allow illegal recruiters to take advantage of our overseas applicants,' said Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.
'This firm deceived job seekers by misrepresenting itself as an aviation consultancy,' he added.
Mr Cacdac noted how the firm was found luring job seekers with promises of employment in Texas, with a salary of US$3,344 (PHP193,500), despite lacking the proper authorisation.
The department also said that the firm's listed address is San Andres Bukid, Manila, which was found to be a transient lodging house, despite being based in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
'AeroStrategies Inc committed multiple violations, including illegal recruitment, misrepresentation, and operating with a fraudulent business address,' said Mr Cacdac.
The DMW has placed the company's officials on its blacklist and permanently barred them from participating in any overseas recruitment activities.
