ZIM raises its full-year 2026 guidance, projecting significant increases in EBITDA and EBIT due to strong market demand and freight rates.
On October 6, local time, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services substantially raised its full-year 2026 performance expectations, citing sustained strength in market demand and continued positive freight rate momentum.
Specifically, ZIM now projects full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA in the range of USD 2.7 billion to USD 3.0 billion, compared with its prior guidance of USD 2.0 billion to USD 2.4 billion. Adjusted EBIT is now forecast at USD 1.4 billion to USD 1.7 billion, against the previous range of USD 700 million to USD 1.1 billion.
ZIM noted that, relative to the full-year guidance issued on August 19, 2026, the revised outlook represents a 29.5% increase in the midpoint of adjusted EBITDA and a 72.2% increase in the midpoint of adjusted EBIT—figures that underscore the accelerating financial trajectory the company is pursuing.
Of particular note, the proposed USD 4.2 billion acquisition of ZIM by Hapag-Lloyd, in partnership with Israeli private equity firm FIMI, has entered a critical juncture. While the transaction has not been formally terminated, it has effectively returned to the negotiation stage following the conclusion of a review by the Israeli Government Companies Authority into the existing deal structure. Any materially revised transaction structure will require renewed approval from the boards of ZIM, Hapag-Lloyd, and FIMI before a new application can be submitted.
In parallel, Hapag-Lloyd and FIMI have indicated their intention to submit a revised proposal and to once again seek approval from the Israeli government—signaling that both parties remain committed to advancing the transaction through the appropriate regulatory channels.
