A fire at Bodrum Yalıkavak Marina destroyed seven luxury yachts worth over $100 million, narrowly missing those owned by Aziz Yıldırım and Demet Sabancı.
During the holiday, a fire that broke out at Bodrum Yalıkavak Marina resulted in the complete destruction and sinking of seven luxury yachts. It has been learned that just a few meters away from these yachts, there were vessels belonging to Aziz Yıldırım, the former president of Fenerbahçe, and the famous businesswoman Demet Sabancı Çetindoğan, which narrowly escaped the flames.
The fire, which started on a yacht named Sisu at Bodrum Yalıkavak Marina a few days ago, quickly spread, engulfing a total of seven super yachts valued at over 100 million dollars, which ultimately sank into the water.
It was determined that three of these yachts belonged to Arab sheikhs, while one was owned by Russian oligarchs; however, the ownership of the other yachts could not be identified.
According to the information obtained, the yachts anchored just a few meters away from the burning vessels belonged to Aziz Yıldırım and Demet Sabancı Çetindoğan. The yachts of these famous individuals were saved from burning at the last moment.
On the other hand, it was reported that one of the burned yachts belonged to İbrahim Levent, the son-in-law of the legendary figure of Turkish cinema, Ayhan Işık.
CLEANUP HAS BEGUN AT THE PORT
In the Bodrum district of Muğla, cleanup efforts have commenced at the marina where seven motor yachts sank due to the fire. On the day of the disaster, firefighting efforts were supported not only by fire brigade teams but also by firefighting boats from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety and the Bodrum Regional Port Authority.
