US forces hit Isfahan's nuclear site as Iran attacks a Kuwaiti tanker, escalating conflict and impacting global oil supplies.
US forces struck Isfahan, a central Iranian city home to a nuclear site, while Tehran attacked a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker off Dubai, reported the Associated Press.
The attacks underscored the intensity of the war more than a month after US and Israeli strikes began. The conflict has killed more than 3,000 people and disrupted global oil and gas supplies.
On Tuesday, average US gasoline prices rose above US$4 a gallon, highlighting the war's impact beyond the Middle East.
US President Donald Trump told allies frustrated by high fuel costs to 'go get your own oil,' urging them to buy from the US. He criticized countries unwilling to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran continues to restrict.
Trump shared footage of the strike on Isfahan, which analysts believe stores much of Iran's highly enriched uranium. The city is one of three nuclear enrichment sites targeted by US forces in a 12-day war last June.
Tehran's strike on the Kuwaiti tanker added to the growing risks for Gulf shipping, reinforcing fears that energy infrastructure has become a primary battlefield in the conflict.
