SOME 700 counterfeit luxury watches, with a face value of US$10 million, have been seized by US Customs in Philadelphia from a Hong Kong shipment. The express consignment parcel was manifested as lithium batteries, but upon examination found counterfeit Rolex, Tous, Hublot, Piguet, Panerai, Patek, Fossil and Harley Davidson watches.
Officers detained the shipment as the craftsmanship was of questionable quality and the packaging was of poor quality, reported the American Journal of Transportation.
'This is a significant seizure, both in terms of dollar value, and in the message that it sends to individuals and organisations that traffic in counterfeit and pirated goods.' said Philadelphia customs chief Joseph Martella.
