Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Port (TCIT) in Ho Chi Minh City handled 221,819 TEU in July 2026, equivalent to 3.2 million tons of cargo, surpassing its previous record set in August 2025, reported Bao Sai Gon Giai Phong.
The achievement highlights the port's improved operational capacity and reflects the recovery of import-export and logistics activities in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area.
In July, TCIT received 45 mother vessels on 13 international service routes, 13 domestic feeder vessels, and 83 transshipment vessels bound for Cambodia. Vessel unloading productivity reached over 138 containers per hour, while the average gate handling time was about 15 minutes per container, ensuring stable operations despite rising volumes.
Vietnam's total import and export turnover in the first half of 2026 rose by 27.1 percent compared with the same period last year. The Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster alone handled about 3.9 million TEU, up 9.2 percent, with 53 international shipping routes directly connecting to major global markets.
