Air France KLM Cargo faces major delays and cancellations at Schiphol due to heavy snow, affecting various cargo operations and partner airlines.
Air France KLM Cargo has warned of significant delays and cancellations at Amsterdam Schiphol due to heavy snow, as reported by London's Air Cargo News.
The Franco-Dutch airline group stated that restrictions have been imposed on certain cargo types to mitigate the impact of the adverse weather conditions. Reduced free sales apply to flights departing from Amsterdam, with no acceptance of special products such as live animals and temperature-controlled shipments.
Sister carrier Martinair confirmed that freighter flights are subject to schedule changes and delays. The airline group noted that deteriorating winter weather has severely affected both flight and ground operations, with forecasts indicating that these conditions will persist.
Partner airline Delta Cargo has also implemented import restrictions on specialized products, including Fresh, Pharma, Live, Safe, Care, and Express Critical shipments. These restrictions are expected to remain in place through January 11, subject to operational conditions.
The wintry weather has caused thousands of cancellations. KLM has deployed larger aircraft on some routes to accommodate stranded passengers. The carrier reported that around 300,000 travelers have been unable to continue their journeys as planned and noted a shortage of de-icer.
