The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will convene the 2026 IATA Cargo Experts Conference (CEC) in Budapest, Hungary, on 23-24 September 2026, directing the industry's attention toward practical improvements in day-to-day air cargo operations through global standards, technology, and data.
Held under the theme 'From Expertise to Execution,' the conference gathers cargo specialists to exchange proven practices, confront shared operational challenges, and translate ideas into applications within their own organizations.
'CEC brings cargo experts together to share what works, tackle common challenges, and take away tangible ideas they can apply in their own organizations. The focus is on operations. The two-day program is organized around three specialized tracks, each addressing a distinct dimension of modern cargo operations.
The Digital Cargo track advances the adoption of ONE Record, IATA's data-sharing standard, and moves digital technologies into everyday practice. Sessions cover APIs, artificial intelligence, and automation, with an emphasis on cargo security, shipment visibility, data quality, and interoperability across the supply chain.
The Safety & Security track addresses emerging risks confronting the sector, including the safe handling of dangerous goods and the proliferation of undeclared lithium batteries. Discussions will center on strengthening risk assessment and oversight to protect people, aircraft, and cargo.
The Pharma & Cargo Operations track focuses on strengthening ground handling, building resilience, and improving cold-chain operations. Sessions will examine smarter compliance and the role of real-time data in supporting the reliable movement of pharmaceutical shipments.
By anchoring its 2026 agenda in operational execution, IATA positions the conference as a platform where global standards, digital tools, and data converge to reinforce the reliability that air cargo customers depend on daily.
