Search teams are still unable to find three missing seafarers from the Mayuree Naree, attacked in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month.
A specialist team has been unable to locate three missing seafarers from the Thai-flagged bulker Mayuree Naree, which was struck in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month, reported the UK's Seatrade Maritime News.
The vessel, owned by Precious Shipping, was attacked on 11 March while transiting out of the Gulf. Twenty crew members evacuated and were rescued by the Royal Navy of Oman, but three are believed to be trapped in the engine room.
Precious Shipping stated that the search was conducted under difficult conditions, including fire damage, residual smoke, and flooding. All accessible areas were examined, but the missing crew members were not found. Families have been informed of the situation.
The Mayuree Naree is reported to be grounded off Iran's Qeshm Island. According to the Joint Maritime Information Center, 21 ships have been attacked in the Gulf region since 1 March. International Maritime Organization figures show nine seafarers confirmed dead and four missing, including the three from the Mayuree Naree.
