Shenzhen Port's Dachan Bay Terminal has signed a Green Shipping Corridor Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement with Nantong Tonghai Port and Pan Asia Holdings in Shanghai, with representatives from all three parties in attendance at the signing ceremony.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in Shenzhen's implementation of China's national 'dual carbon' strategic objectives and its active response to the Ministry of Transport's International Green Shipping Corridor Cooperation Initiative. Dachan Bay Terminal, committed to serving national strategy, is capitalizing on the historic diplomatic opportunity presented by APEC 2026 while actively supporting Shenzhen's ambition to develop into a Global Maritime Centre City. Through deep participation in the Shenzhen Municipal Government's 'Green Shipping Corridor Action Plan,' the terminal is translating commitment into measurable progress—driving the green transformation of Shenzhen's port and shipping sector and contributing substantive results to APEC 2026.
Under the terms of the agreement, the three parties will operate on the principles of voluntary equality, mutual benefit, information sharing, openness, transparency, and collaborative carbon reduction. Leveraging Dachan Bay Terminal's pivotal position in the Pearl River Delta, Nantong Tonghai Port's strategic location along the Yangtze River Delta coast, and Pan Asia Holdings' established capacity and operational expertise on the Yangtze River-to-South China trunk route, the parties will establish a long-term strategic partnership and jointly develop a dedicated green shipping corridor. Collaboration will extend across new energy infrastructure investment, equipment upgrades, and information sharing—enabling mutual learning and the achievement of shared goals centered on zero-carbon orientation, cost efficiency, and reciprocal benefit. Together, the three parties aim to generate replicable practical experience that advances the development of green port and shipping industries nationwide.
Within this framework, the three parties will prioritize port-shipping integration and carbon reduction efficiency as their core mandate, working in concert to build a green, efficient, stable, and low-carbon full-process container logistics corridor between Nantong and Shenzhen. The initiative will connect port transit operations between the two cities, optimize end-to-end logistics workflows, steadily reduce carbon emission intensity across the container shipping supply chain, and elevate both the overall operational performance and market competitiveness of the route. The result is a cross-regional green port and shipping cooperation model designed to be replicated and scaled. This agreement signals a substantive step forward by Shenzhen Port in advancing the green transformation of the port and shipping industry, and a valuable contribution to the national effort to build green shipping corridors across China.
