During the salvage work, absorbants were laid out to suck up the fuel, in case of leaks. The Civil Guard closely followed the attempt to remove the "Paradise" from the water, as they feared that contaminating liquid could be spilled. The agents of the Tax Patrol and the Civil Guard of the Sea have controlled all movements around the luxurious boat, valued at three million Euros and based in Kingstown. It was feared someone would take advantage of the gap in the hull to sneak inside and look for valuables.
