The grounded cargo ship 'RAPID' will be auctioned on July 27, with an estimated price of 7.4 million lira after being salvaged near Kandıra.
The Tanzanian-flagged bulk carrier named 'RAPID', which ran aground off the coast of Kandıra district in Kocaeli last year and was subsequently towed to Kefken Island, will be sold through an open bidding process on July 27. The estimated sale price of the vessel has been set at 7 million 411 thousand 754 lira.

Due to adverse weather conditions, the 81-meter-long Tanzanian-flagged bulk carrier 'RAPID' ran aground on September 18 and was towed to a safe area on Kefken Island on November 16, 2025, where it continues to wait.
According to the tender announcement from the Kefken Port Authority, the sale of the bulk carrier named 'RAPID' will be conducted at its current location in accordance with Article 7 of the Ports Law No. 618 and the open bidding procedure outlined in the Public Procurement Law No. 2886. The tender specifications can be obtained from the Kocaeli Regional Port Authority upon submission of the receipt for the 10 thousand lira deposit, labeled as 'tender file fee,' which must be deposited into the relevant account of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure's Revolving Fund Enterprise at VakıfBank Emek Branch.
The tender will take place at the Kocaeli Regional Port Authority Meeting Room on Monday, July 27, at 16:00, conducted by the Kefken Port Authority through an open bidding process.
The estimated sale price of the vessel is 7 million 411 thousand 754 lira, and the amount of the provisional guarantee has been determined as 222 thousand 353 lira and 62 kuruş.
To participate in the tender, the complete file consisting of the specified documents must be submitted in person to the Kocaeli Regional Port Authority by the end of working hours at 17:00 on Thursday, July 23.
Following the grounding of the 81-meter-long Tanzanian-flagged bulk carrier 'RAPID' on September 18 last year, operations were initiated to rescue the crew, resulting in the rescue of seven crew members, including six Ukrainians and one Iranian, by helicopter, and the vessel was towed to a safe area on Kefken Island on November 16.
