The Port of New York and New Jersey reports January growth, with rail and auto volumes significantly increasing, according to Ukraine's Railway Supply.
The Port of New York and New Jersey began 2026 with stronger activity as rail and autos drove growth, reported Ukraine's Railway Supply.
According to the Port Authority's Breaking Waves newsletter, total throughput reached 749,906 TEU in January, marking a four percent increase from a year earlier.
Rail volumes rose by 11.5 percent to 58,522 containers, while autos surged by 30.2 percent to 30,758 units.
Exports climbed by 13.9 percent to 112,426 TEUs, although imports slipped by 1.5 percent to 372,973 TEU.
Direct on-dock rail access is provided at the port's ExpressRail Terminals, which are served by CSX, Norfolk Southern Railway, and New York New Jersey Rail.
