In October, Osaka Port handled 180,184 TEU, marking a 7.3% drop in foreign-trade containers, with exports down 8.6%.
The Port of Osaka processed 180,184 TEU of foreign-trade containers in October, representing a 7.3% decrease year-on-year for the second consecutive month, according to London's Port Technology International.
Exports fell by 8.6% to 82,790 TEU, while imports decreased by 6.3% to 97,394 TEU. The total number of loaded containers was 127,844 TEU, reflecting a 9.7% decline, with exports at 36,137 TEU and imports at 91,707 TEU. Additionally, empty containers saw a slight decrease of 1% to 52,340 TEU.
For the first ten months of 2025, foreign-trade container traffic reached 1.73 million TEU, an increase of 2.9% compared to the same period last year. Exports rose by 4.6% to 789,219 TEU, while imports increased by 1.6% to 936,146 TEU.
Loaded containers for the January-October period remained nearly unchanged at 1.22 million TEU, whereas empty containers surged by 11.3% to 504,338 TEU.
In November, the Yumeshima Container Terminal at the Port of Osaka received carbon neutral port certification from Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for berths C10, C11, and C12.
