Nine suspects in the Filo Jet sinking case return to Kyrenia District Court today as investigations continue into the tragic incident.
Nine suspects who were arrested as part of the investigation into the passenger ship named Filo Jet, which sank off the coast of Kyrenia, are being brought before the Kyrenia District Court again today.
The investigation is being conducted against the company director A.Ö., ship captain M.Ö., first officer M.S., chief engineer Z.Ö., second engineer M.G., and crew members S.E., K.K., V.H., and R.İ. on charges of 'causing death by negligence and carelessness.'
NINE SUSPECTS IN COURT AGAIN
The nine suspects were previously brought before the Kyrenia District Court on August 31. While the investigation is ongoing, it is expected that the suspects will appear in court again today.
239 PEOPLE RESCUED
The Filo Jet, which operates between Kyrenia Port and Taşucu Port, began taking on water shortly after departing from Kyrenia on August 30. During the rescue operation conducted after the ship sank while attempting to return to port, 239 people were rescued.
According to data announced by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, 239 out of the 267 passengers and crew on board were rescued.
It was stated that the wreckage was found at a depth of 554 meters off the coast of Kyrenia, and 14 people lost their lives in the disaster. Efforts are ongoing to reach the 14 missing individuals.
