Narita International Airport handled 175,506 tonnes of international air cargo in May, an 8.8 per cent increase year-on-year, marking its 26th consecutive month of growth, Tokyo Customs reported, according to Athens' Container News.
Outbound cargo rose by 11.6 per cent to 83,179 tonnes. Export cargo increased by 11.7 per cent to 49,328 tonnes, extending its growth streak to seven months. Temporarily landed outbound cargo climbed by 11.3 per cent to 33,851 tonnes.
Inbound cargo reached 92,327 tonnes, up 6.4 per cent from a year earlier, marking a second consecutive month of growth. Imports rose by 3.5 per cent to 56,328 tonnes, extending their growth streak to eight months. Temporarily landed inbound cargo increased by 11.3 per cent to 35,999 tonnes.
