COSCO SHIPPING Ports reports strong Q3 2026 growth with 8.4% throughput increase and focus on global expansion and sustainability initiatives.

COSCO SHIPPING Ports reported strong results for Q3 2026, reflecting steady growth in throughput and revenue. The company's total throughput reached 42.27 million TEUs, an 8.4% year-on-year increase, while equity throughput rose 8.1% to 12.88 million TEUs.

Revenue for the quarter reached USD 484.33 million, up 13.0% year-on-year, with profit attributable to equity holders at USD 82.59 million, a slight 0.1% rise. For the first three quarters, total throughput increased by 8.1% to 122.42 million TEUs, with cumulative revenue climbing 12.6% to USD 1.39 billion. Profit for the period rose 19.7% to USD 316.26 million, demonstrating improved operational efficiency and quality.

China terminals remained the core of operations, handling 30.94 million TEUs in Q3, a 4.9% year-on-year increase, and accounting for 73.2% of total throughput. Equity throughput from China terminals also grew by 4.9%, highlighting their stability as the foundation for COSCO's performance. Meanwhile, overseas terminals delivered stronger growth, with throughput rising 19.4% to 11.32 million TEUs, representing 26.8% of total throughput. Equity throughput at overseas terminals grew 15.6%, reflecting the company's efforts to strengthen its global network, particularly through key hub ports like the CSP Chancay Terminal and the Port of Piraeus.

The Port of Piraeus saw an 11.4% increase in throughput, driven by growing demand in the Mediterranean region. CSP Chancay Terminal achieved 24.9% growth, focusing on international logistics corridors and expanding its route network.

Despite challenges such as geopolitical tensions and supply chain cost pressures, COSCO's global operations demonstrated resilience. The company emphasized synergies within the COSCO SHIPPING Group and the Ocean Alliance, leveraging its network to sustain growth. Upward revisions in global trade forecasts by the IMF and WTO further contribute to a positive outlook for the port industry, though uncertainties remain due to developments in the Middle East and fluctuating trade policies.

Looking ahead, COSCO SHIPPING Ports will focus on three strategies: optimizing its global terminal network, enhancing operational efficiency, and advancing innovation in digital intelligence and green energy. These efforts aim to strengthen the company's position in emerging markets, improve service capabilities, and drive sustainable growth, offering long-term value to shareholders and stakeholders in the shipping industry.
