More than two months after its accident, the "Napoleon Bonaparte" left the basin in Marseille on Jan 9 and was towed to the local dry dock. 47 days of pumping at a rate of 6000 m3 per hour were necessary to restore the stability of the ship. At 9 a.m. the moorings holding the ship at berth 40 were finally removed, before two tugs of the company Boluda took the ship in tow. It took more than two hours to get the disabled ferry to the yard, which is 3,4 km away, at a speed of 2 knots. It will take about three weeks to determine the extent of damage and the cost of repairs, results are expected by Jan 24. For the bulk of the repair work, SNCM will launch a tender, which will take at least two months. Candidates are STX in Saint-Nazaire or a German company.
