Maersk opens a 20,000 sq ft Ground Freight Station in Savannah, boosting its logistics network and service efficiency across the US.
Denmark's AP Moller-Maersk has launched a new 20,000 square foot Ground Freight Station in Savannah, enhancing its integrated logistics network across the United States, according to reports from London's Port Technology International.
The facility features three docks and a dedicated fleet, providing pickup and delivery services in the Savannah market. This initiative aims to improve speed, reliability, and local control for customers.
Savannah is a crucial link in Maersk's US network, anchored by the Port of Savannah, one of North America's fastest-growing gateways. The site offers direct access to I-95 and I-16, connecting to major Southeastern markets, including Atlanta, Jacksonville, Charleston, and Charlotte.
This new station complements Maersk's existing Contract Logistics sites in Savannah and follows recent Ground Freight openings in Lake City, Georgia, and Dallas-Fort Worth, creating a regional network of integrated services.
Bob Livingston, Head of Maersk Ground Freight Operations in North America, stated that the opening reflects the company's commitment to strengthening its logistics network across the US, with Savannah playing a central role in simplifying supply chains.
In November, Maersk also inaugurated its flagship logistics center in Shanghai's Lin-gang area, marking one of its largest global warehousing investments.
