Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd have resumed limited transits through the Red Sea following a ceasefire between the US and Iran. However, both carriers have emphasized that a wider return to normal operations will depend on regional stability, as reported by Kuehne+Nagel.
Currently, only a few vessels are deployed, with schedules remaining unchanged. Safety concerns continue to dictate reliance on alternative routings. Evergreen has introduced the UBX service, linking Asia and Africa with nine ships averaging 4,800-5,600 TEU. Cosco has launched the SEI2 Asia-Indian Subcontinent service, utilizing five vessels of 3,800 TEU.
CMA CGM has suspended its Asia-US Columbus pendulum service, with final sailings occurring in May and port calls extending into the summer. MSC has re-launched the Pearl service with 6,200 TEU ships and the Sentosa service with 14,900 TEU ships. The Ocean Alliance has revised its CBX Transpacific rotation to include Port Klang and New York, while also launching the Mekong Transpacific Express with ships ranging from 9,000 to 13,000 TEU. Additionally, MSC has added the Sierra service from Asia to Mexico, utilizing 9,000 TEU vessels.
Premier Alliance has revised its FE3 Asia-North Europe service, dropping Algeciras and adding Antwerp, deploying 17 ships of 21,300 TEU. CMA CGM has adjusted its ACSA1 Asia-South America service to include Manzanillo and Lazaro Cardenas, with 13 ships of 14,000 TEU.
Evergreen has chartered slots on TS Lines' JHTN intra-Asia service, utilizing three ships of 1,200 TEU. Maersk has launched the PH1 intra-Asia service with four ships of 2,100-3,500 TEU. MSC has introduced the Ochna service with three ships of 2,550-2,650 TEU.
ONE has launched the Mediterranean Africa Express (MAX) service with five ships of 2,700-2,800 TEU, starting on 7 July. MSC has revised its Eagle service between North America and Oceania, adding Napier with vessels averaging 4,000 TEU.
