Lufthansa Cargo enhances its A321 freighter network with new weekly services to Rome and Algiers, boosting logistics across Europe and Africa.
Lufthansa Cargo will expand its A321 short and medium haul freighter network this month with new services to Rome and Algiers, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
Rome-Fiumicino now joins the regular schedule with weekly flights from Frankfurt continuing to Istanbul and Munich. The Italian capital has been served on an ad hoc basis since December, but its inclusion highlights the growing importance of Lufthansa Cargo's new hub in Southern Europe.
Algiers will be added on February 10, with flights every Tuesday. The Algerian capital becomes the seventh direct freighter destination in the Middle East and Africa, alongside Beirut, Casablanca, Cairo, Yerevan, Tel Aviv, and Tunis.
Chief Executive Ashwin Bhat said the expanded network offers faster and more flexible logistics across Europe and beyond, with five hubs and multiple transport options enabling quick adaptation to shifts in cargo flows.
Lufthansa Cargo's short and medium haul network now covers 22 destinations with four A321 freighters. Its global operations are supported by eighteen B777 freighters and belly cargo capacity from partner airlines, creating a network of about 350 destinations in 100 countries.
