Tüpraş, Turkey's largest industrial enterprise, has announced its investment in four new Suezmax-type crude oil tankers to strengthen its maritime transportation fleet. The project, with a total investment exceeding 370 million dollars, aims to have the ships join the fleet by the end of 2029.
According to the company's statement, each of the four tankers to be built in South Korea will have a carrying capacity of approximately 157,000 DWT. The new vessels will significantly enhance Tüpraş's operational flexibility and logistical capacity in maritime transportation while strengthening its crude oil supply chain.
The new tankers will be operated by Ditaş, Tüpraş's subsidiary in maritime transportation and logistics. Ditaş recently rose to become the company with the largest Turkish-flagged tanker fleet with the addition of the T. Riva tanker to its fleet. With the delivery of the four new Suezmax tankers, the company's capacity in crude oil transportation will further expand.
Tüpraş operates with an annual crude oil processing capacity of 30 million tons at its four refineries located in İzmit, İzmir, Kırıkkale, and Batman. The organization, positioned as the seventh largest refinery company in Europe, supplies 31 different types of crude oil from 16 countries, including Turkey. The new investment is aimed at strengthening the company's supply security, enhancing its competitiveness in international maritime transportation, and contributing to Turkey's energy logistics.
