Jinjiang Shipping orders four new 1,900-TEU vessels at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, part of a CNY1.94 billion investment plan.
Shanghai-listed Jinjiang Shipping has pressed ahead with its fleet expansion by ordering a series of 1,900-TEU newbuilds at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, reports Singapore's Splash 247.
The carrier, controlled by Shanghai International Port Group, signed contracts for four firm vessels with options for another four of the same type. Each ship is priced at about CNY205 million (US$29.7 million).
The deal is part of a previously announced investment plan worth up to CNY1.94 billion aimed at adding Bangkokmax vessels to the fleet.
According to Alphaliner, Jinjiang Shipping ranks 34th among global container carriers, operating 52 vessels with a combined capacity of about 59,400 TEU. Roughly half of the fleet is owned.
The latest order follows another recent move by the company, which contracted up to four 1,100-TEU feeder vessels at Sumec Marine.
