As a potential agreement between the US and Iran nears, drone strikes continue in Israel and the Strait of Hormuz, raising tensions.

Despite reports of a near agreement between Washington and Tehran, fighting persisted, with drones intercepted in northern Israel and the Strait of Hormuz, reports Israeli-based Y Net Global.

US Central Command stated that it downed several Iranian drones aimed at commercial ships in Hormuz, while Iranian media reported explosions near Sirik and Qeshm Island as 'warning fire.' Hezbollah also launched a drone toward Israel, triggering sirens in Metula and Misgav Am before interception by the IDF.

A senior US official indicated that a framework deal was close, estimating an 80-85 percent chance of success. The terms include the destruction of enriched nuclear material, dismantling of Iran's program, reopening Hormuz, and sanctions relief if Tehran complies. He mentioned that Israel would ultimately cooperate, although Israeli officials criticized the emerging agreement as a 'catastrophe.'

Iranian outlets published a draft with 14 points that differ sharply, including an immediate ceasefire on all fronts, lifting of the maritime blockade, withdrawal of foreign forces, suspension of sanctions, and the release of US$24 billion in frozen funds. US President Donald Trump dismissed the reports as 'fake news' and 'dishonorable.'

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a breakthrough, stating that a final draft memorandum had been reached and that peace was closer than ever. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi echoed that the memorandum was near completion.

Reuters reported that the UAE agreed to unfreeze billions for Iran, citing sources who estimated the figure to be between US$10 billion and US$20 billion. However, the UAE denied the claim, stating that no frozen funds had been released or transferred.
