Freighter capsized, crew rescued

In stormy weather the 'Hao Xiang 19' (IMO-No.: 884904) ran aground on a reef off Luxi island, east of Wenzhou in the Zhejiang province, on Sep 25, 2018, at 3 a.m. The ship loaded with steel and with 13 crew members on board, was en route from Taizhou to Wenzhou. SAR ships were sent to assist. The ship developed heavy starboard list caused by hold flooding. Two of the crew managed to abandon ship ina life raft, the rest were trapped on board because all life boats and rafts were were not accessible. By 05.30 a.m. SAR boats managed to take all remaining 11 crew members off the ship, later the two men were recovered from the life raft. The ship capsized.
