The Empire Hope tanker, designed by Chinese engineers, transports 2 million barrels of oil, enhancing energy efficiency in global shipping.
The Empire Hope, developed by Chinese engineers, stands out with a capacity to carry 2 million barrels of oil. This next-generation tanker is notable for its energy efficiency.
The giant tanker measures 333 meters in length and has a width of approximately 60 meters, giving it a significant presence in the seas. The national press emphasizes that this new vessel will greatly contribute to China's global oil transportation efforts.
The deck area of the Empire Hope exceeds 18,000 square meters. The total paint and coating area reaches 540,000 square meters, which is equivalent to the surface area of about 76 standard football fields. The ship has the capacity to carry more than 2 million barrels of crude oil in a single voyage and can operate comfortably in critical maritime routes such as the Strait of Malacca.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY TAKES CENTER STAGE
According to experts, this massive capacity will reduce costs in energy transportation between the Middle East and Asia. The tanker’s carrying capacity of 307,000 tons places it among the world's largest VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) class vessels. Additionally, the next-generation tanker is equipped with a highly efficient propeller system and energy-saving equipment, which means that it could save approximately 35 million yuan, or about 5 million dollars, annually.
