The bulk carrier 'Hayriye Ana' was rescued by Coast Guard teams after a malfunction in the Sea of Marmara, ensuring crew safety and navigation.
The 118-meter-long bulk carrier named 'Hayriye Ana,' which experienced a malfunction while navigating in the Sea of Marmara, was safely rescued with the intervention of the Coast Guard General Directorate teams.
The vessel was subsequently towed to the Ambarlı Anchorage and anchored there.
How Did the Incident Occur?
According to the information obtained, the ship experienced a mechanical failure while sailing from Ünye, Ordu, to France, off the coast of Beylikdüzü, Istanbul. Following the malfunction, the captain reported the situation via radio, prompting an emergency intervention coordinated by the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Center.
A tugboat named 'Kurtarma-8,' belonging to the Coast Guard General Directorate, along with a pilot captain, was dispatched to the area. As part of the operation, the immobilized vessel was towed in a controlled manner to reach the Ambarlı Anchorage.
Rapid Intervention for Navigation Safety
Authorities emphasized that similar malfunctions could pose serious risks due to the heavy maritime traffic in the Sea of Marmara. It was stated that the primary aim of the operation was to ensure the safety of the ship's crew and to prevent a potential accident in maritime traffic.
In a statement from the Coast Guard General Directorate, it was expressed that the operation was completed without issues and that the vessel was safely anchored.
