FEDEX is optimistic that it will move a record 33 million packages across its global network on Cyber Monday on December 2. The global integrator also anticipates it will double its average daily package volume on the two Mondays that follow, reports London's Air Cargo News.
According to FedEx, the volume spikes on these Mondays are due to weekend online shopping, resulting in orders hitting retailers' shipping cycles early in the week, and fuelling strong demand for delivery to residential addresses.
FedEx Corp executive vice president Brie Carere was quoted as saying: 'E-commerce continues to grow and FedEx is ready to deliver this holiday and beyond.
'We recognised early on that e-commerce would transform the way our customers shop and ship, and we have invested in a world-class network that flexes to meet volume demands throughout the year.'
