Cruise ship repaired and cleared to sail
The "Norwegian Star" hass been repaired and left Melbourne bound for New Zealand on Feb 14. It was the third fault with the Norwegian Star's propulsion system in the past three months. After the ship, which was carrying more than 3,000 passengers and crew, lost engine power on Feb 11 and became stranded about 30 kilometres off Wilson's Promontory on Victoria's east coast, it was towed into Port Phillip Bay for repairs where guests were forced to wait. The ship has been cleared for sailing by local authorities and left Station Pier at 2:00 p.m. after both azipods had undergone repairs by technicians. The ship was now expected to arrive in Auckland on Feb 18. Guests boarding the ship when it reaches New Zealand will be contacted 48 hours before it arrives.
