Search efforts for the Filo Jet disaster enter the sixth day, with 10 confirmed dead and 18 still missing as recovery operations persist.

The search efforts for the individuals missing from the passenger ship Filo Jet, which capsized while operating the Girne-Taşucu route, continue into the sixth day.

The relatives of the missing persons are anxiously waiting at the entrance of the Girne Tourism Port.

With the recovery of two bodies from the 20 missing individuals yesterday, the death toll in the disaster has risen to 10, while the number of missing persons has decreased to 18.

The operations continued throughout the night.

    ACCESS TO THE WRECKAGE

In the search efforts, President Tufan Erhürman announced yesterday that the object identified at a depth of approximately 550 meters was confirmed to be the wreck of the passenger ship Filo Jet, and access to the ship has been achieved.

Erhürman reported that after TCG Işın, TCG Alemdar also reached the area as of yesterday, and imaging and search operations are being conducted continuously on a 24-hour basis. Due to the depth of the wreck, the operations are being carried out using underwater robots and special technical systems.
