China has approved three major tech firms to import Nvidia's H200 chips, with conditions still being finalized for the purchases.
China has authorised three of its largest technology companies to purchase Nvidia's H200 chips, reported Reuters.
ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent have been cleared to buy more than 400,000 H200 units, with other firms awaiting subsequent approvals, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The approvals come with conditions that are still being finalised. One source said the licences were too restrictive, and customers have not yet converted them into purchase orders.
The regulatory nods were granted during Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang's visit to China this week, one of the sources added.
