Arel Shipping's Gemini and Velar vessels will undergo a conversion to increase their length to 89.76 meters, enhancing their cargo capacity.

The transformation project prepared by Arel Shipping, based in Istanbul, for the Turkish-flagged vessels Gemini and Velar began with steel cutting. The project, designed by Artı Dizayn, was reported on November 1 by Haber Denizde and on November 3 by Deniz Haber Ajansı.

Both vessels were built in 2021. According to the shipowner's fleet records, their lengths are 81 meters, and their cargo capacities are 2,949 cubic meters. The current carrying capacity is 3,442.3 DWT for Gemini and 3,405.8 DWT for Velar.

When the project is completed, the total length of both vessels will increase to 89.76 meters. Based on the current fleet values of the shipowner, the target of 4,080 DWT corresponds to an increase of approximately 638 DWT for Gemini and 674 DWT for Velar.
